Really low idle! Please help my new car

Just got my 87 n/a 2 days ago...and the idle speed is like 200....its like too low to be even running, but it does, just really ruff...I tried turning that idle screw thing at the top of the throttle body but it doesnt change the idle speed...if i tighten it all the way then it gets even worse...so i just put it out as far as it can go but its still at below 200rpm.

Another thing is my belt or belts are skwheeling (squeling) like crazy. I looked at the lever to tighten it on the alternator, and its already at the top...Do i need new belts? And what size recommendation is the alternator belt?

I recently replaced my alternator belt and the reccomended belt takes up all the adjustment there is on the pulley - I intend to go back and get another V belt about an inch smaller than the one they say is the right one.
With regard to your idle speed, I think you might have a thermowax problem - there are lots of post in the archives about thermowax = try a search.

Your lucky day. Go to http://www.iluvmyrx7.com and download and then print the factory service manual for the price of FREE! Go to section 4a under IDLE SPEED AND IDLE MIXTURE. If that does not work, write back. And just to be argumenative, I don't think its the thermowax. That usually do its very nature makes a engine run fast, not slow due to its keeping the fast idle cam on the roller, not off. There's other questions that need to be asked like, when you start the engine does it idle about 3000 rpm for about 17seconds then drop off to about 1000 and then after the engine warms up go down towards 750? Or does it just flat idle at 2-300rpm right off the bat? Does it run half **** good at speed? I'm predjudiced. I think any car that will idle at 200rpm is actually in pretty good shape. 'At least on one rotor.
