Angry Re: dying when cold...

oh hey there, and yes ive searched for many weeks trying to solve my problem, a very slow process or elimintation

so anyways, im having a problem, for one my car doesnt rev to 3000 when starting in the morning

two - it doesnt rev and sit at 1500 like it used to, kinda like it had a choke on of some sort, because i could still drive it, it would jus rev high, until it was fully warm

now when i start it it revs to like 1100, sits there for a while, and if i try to drive it before its FULLY warm, meaning the temp gauge goes up, then it will die everytime i come to a complete stop...

i have replaced the BAC, replaced the thermowax last week, adjusted the tps (by an rx7 mechanic) and still have this problem, oh and one more thing, when its fully warm it usually idles pretty well, however from time to time it will search at idle..

anyone have this exact experience or can the guru's help!! thanks a bunch guys

Marshall

I'm having the same problem on my '86 base... If I completely floor the gas befor it is warm it stutters instead of revving up, and if I hold it long enough it will die

Have you checked the cold start cam and appropriate thingies? Verified there are no vacuum leaks?

Grab a copy of the Haynes or Factory Service Manual (FAQ). It has a great diagram of the cold start/fast idle system which should help you.
