re: Block Weld Procedure

What fuses do you pull when you're flushing out the cooling system?

I just pulled the stat, inserted a garden hose in the filler, started the motor, opened the radiator drain, & flushed it while idleing.
(with an occasional spray shot of detergent)

Why pull any fuse?
A running water pump will circulate out more coolant than turning it with the starter.

Drain the coolant for disposal.
Leave the drain open.
Pull the stat.
Reassemble the pump outlet without the stat.
Put a hose in the filler, fill & circulate water.
Start the engine to help circulation & flush the heater core.
Spray some detergent cleaner (purple or green) in the filler while flushing.
Turn off the motor, turn off the hose, reinstall the stat, close the drain.
Refill with coolant mix.
Start it up & check for leaks.

thermostat and yes all cars have them, it is a valve that is controlled by temperature, it opens and closes in different amount due to the temperature of the coolant, if it werent for this the cars (all) would overheat!

..?

Sorry newb here..
Why can't you just unplug the drain whole and let it drain out? Then mix coolent 50/50 with water fil her back up and are ready to go?
EDIT: OK now i see your talking about block weld? Is this something to help stop the coolent from going into the cumbustion chamber when engines are in there older years? Similair to some products helping radiater leaks?

On http://rotaryresurrection.com/coolantfix.html it mentions to remove a fuse and does not say to remove the thermostat. But it does say to idle the car for 30 minutes, how long should you idle with a removed thermostat?

Also, it mentions nothing about reassembly the pump outlet and draining the heater core...
