Cool RB Street Strip Install Impressions

I got my RB Street/Strip Clutch, and Exedy Pressure plate.

I got my clutch installed, with air tools for the first 3 hours it took me about 6 1/2 hours to do it. As we hit mid night, it was decided the air tools were to loud for neighbors. This was also my first time installing a clutch. However I had a friend with me who has done it before on a fwd car. I drained my tranmission oil, very little came out was bugged me a lot because I just topped of the oil not to long ago. Anyway I got the tranmission off. The bell housing was full of oil. The front plate that held the bearing and front seal was not even hand tight. The plate and screws were only finger tight, I was able to get it off with just my fingers. The seal was very loose as well. Replaced that, use a little silicon to seal the front plate. Also replaced the rear seal. Installing the clutch and pressure plate was easy, no thang. Mating the transmission back up took a very long time.

Finally after I got everything installed, I took it out for a spin. Wow, the tranmission felts 239048702 times better, and the power above 5k, was actually quick! I didn't realized it before, but my clutch was apparently slipping above 5k. I thougt it was just the lack of engine torque. But, yeah. I am very very happy. However, even though I changed my throwout bearing, I still get a whuurrr, noise when I have the clutch engauged. Other than that, I'm happy.

I'll post pictures of the old oily clutch later.

Cool, and you took the time to change the front & rear seals too...Kudos...Not too much fun gettin' the tranny back in, huh? I'm to the point now where it's almost easier to pull the whole engine/ tranny out of the car to do the clutch, & a bunch of other stuff while it's out!

Its easy to line the tranny back up.. jack up the front of the motor to tilt it way back.. jack up the tranny with another floor jack and it just slides together...

Does jacking up the engine like that hurt the motor mounts? I know some tilt is ok but how much is too much?

What I did was just jack the trans up against the motor, lined up the holes, and jacked up the trans more so it actually pushed up against the engine. I have dead motor mounts, so it pushed back, and the engines weight against the tranny push it in close enough for my to thread in a bolt or two. from there I threaded the bolts in, and wallah.

Just make sure you break in the clutch properly. About 500 miles of city driving is usually recommended. After that you're free to give it hell.

I get the whurr sound whenever the clutch is engauged. I think it could be my pilot bearing? I dunno, its not affecting performance in any way. I can't hear it unless im at a dead stop anyway.

Oh MAN - you didn't change the pilot bearing?!?!?!?! You always change them whenever you're fooling around down there - it's cheap insurance.
