RB road race exhaust and header for street?

hey, well im looking to push my 13b n/a to max hp for the least $$. Looking at the Rb design it makes perfect sense and i think it would be worth getting the whole system. I think any regular cop would think the pre-silincer was the cat and they have O2 sensor bung fittings right? also any sort of emissions thing i could just re-install if need be. lastly is there anything else i should think about?

Noise? N/A, no cats, and noise are synonymous

RB exhaust will be decent sounding. Unless you are driving around wide open like a ricer idiot you will be fine about noise tickets.

ok in addition haha you think cops would believe the pre-silincer was a cat? cuz that it's a $3000 fine in cali to run without it haha. or is there anyway to keep the whole seperated exhausts with cats?

Just get a 2-1 header with a high flow cat..

I did have the true dual exhuast and its fairly quiet, nice deep tone.. till about 4k.. then it just screams!!!!!1 cruising and idle were just a bit louder then stock.

And I dout the cop will think the pre silncer is a cat.. You can try to put a heat shield on it to make it look more cat ish though.

RB full exhuast would defeintly be worth the money though.

in ohio the fine for not having a cat is a warning to put one on, second offense is a fix-it ticket. but in respect, we also have the Amish Walmart that made more money than any other in history opening day, along with the most Amish parking spaces in the world... so no cat seems to be common

edit: im also looking at a RB system, and from what i have heard they are not too bad

I say if you want to be streetable exhaust that won't get you busted for noise, go with a RB collected header + RB presilencer, and most likely a Borla cat-back (or something simular). Its mild, its all S/S. And it will do enough performance for you. If you have the extra cash, go with a RB cat-back.

2->1 is the streetable header. Having a collected system off the shelf its supposed to be a moderate drop in HP.

sorry i guess im slow but a collected exhaust header is worse than stock or worse than complete dual? I would love to have dual leagally but if thats not possible how much worse is a collected header to a high flow cat into the rb street catback for say?

Collected is better than stock but slightly lower power than the road race setup.

RB doesn't have any specs up. Mazdatrix sells a similar system(which I happen to own) and they claim 28% IIRC hp increase on their test car which i think was a GXL.

Just thought I'd chime in.

I just installed an Apexi intake and Racing Beat true duals into my completely stock N/A S5 and it's really not that loud at all.

When I warm the car up (below about 1500 rpms), the FC rumbles and actually rattles my windows in my house a little bit, and above 4500r's or so the RB's really start to growl(it's a GOOD growl ), but in normal driving conditions, ie 2k-4500r's or so, the RB set up surprised me with how quiet it is.
The other night on my local touge, there was a wreck at the bottom of a little incline. The cops were waving cars by the accident one by one, and when it was my turn, I gotta admit I was a little nervous about my exhaust.
I got right through the roadblock without a problem. heh, I'm just glad I didn't have to idle right next to the cop long enough for him to smell my cat-less exhaust.
Like I mentioned, Once you give it a little gas, and get the rpms above like 1800, the pipes really mellow out and cops won't even bat an eye.

do you think it would raise alot of suspicion above 4500 or just as loud as a normal car with an exhaust? you know when you gotta get around someone or just have the urge to hear your exhaust?

I never drive above 3500rpm myself unless i'm purposefully trying to hawl ***. Its stupid to go above 4500 in a normal situation and even dumber if there are cops around. Don't act like a moron and you will not have any troubles.

yeah i speed a bit and have never got a ticket in 3 years im really careful... but i just fear the worst. Cool thanks for all the help i know all my options now and if i get an exhaust ill get the rb true straight pipe and put a heat shield over it. Im also planning on kinda of cia and a s-afc. After I sell my previous car all this should happen and after i blow the motor ill probably port it too . If you dont mind you guys seem to know a hell of a lot what is the best cia? that actually filters and would give me some hp?
