Actually, they do. Rx7.com has recently added a bonez high flow cat to their products that bolts to the RB header and any stock location catback.

http://rx7.com/store/rx7/fcexhaust.html

"For those of you looking for a streetable header system on your 86-91. Headers are the ideal way to get the last percentage of tuned power from your normally aspirated engine. For quite some time, the only way to have headers was in an emissions “unfriendly” package. Now we’ve combined the best of both worlds. Headers and the famous Bonez performance catalytic converter. Don’t forget: You must keep the air injection system functional on your car to make the emissions system work right. (ex: air pump, air control valve, etc.)

And for 1986-91 RX-7 owners who have a Racing Beat header and presilencer system on your car needing to pass emissions testing, this converter is the perfect way to return your FC to emissions pass-ability. This Bönez catalytic converter is a bolt in replacement for the Racing Beat presilencer."

Cat should be fine, just don't go far with the leaning or boom .

Put the car on the dyno and have the SAFC tuned - do it right if you're going to mess with the fueling. I say this because every car / mod list / situation is different and you cannot just go in and remove X fuel at Y rpm and expect results.
In general tuners will aim for 13:1 ish at WOT for best power & reliability from NA rotary, which *usually* represents some degree of leaning out - given the spiky A/F curve you will see, it might be only 5% or as much as 20% at any given rpm.

What kills the cat is a rich diet and no air

BTW, I couldn't stand being in the garage for more than 30 sec. with the car running when my car had a 'test pipe' - eyes stinging & watering, clothes immediately stink for the rest of the day...........go with a high flow cat. You won't lose much HP anyway.

hey this exhaust system (RP 50mm Cat-back - 86-91 Price: $395.00) on rx7store.com is it comparable to the racing beat system or a far cry its a $200 savings but its it can't compete id rather get racing beat but it seems like it would have similar characteristics.

Do you mean rx7.com not rx7store.com? Anyways, the RP catback is what came on my car when I first bought it, and needless to say it is now gone. I didn't like how it looked personally, but as for performance most free-flowing dual systems will be similar.
