RB REV-TII exhaust....few questions

so my REV-TII turbo back exhaust is here.

i have been researching what i need to to to keep my engine safe before adding the "turbo back exhaust that adds 59hp" (i know the 59hp is from boost spike), anyways....i am trying to keep my engine as safe as possible before installing this exhaust.

Racing Beat says: "we recommend the use of our FCD when installing our REV-TII exhaust system"

searching rx7club.com says a few different things, im not going to quote all of the options people have posted years ago.

so far i have a boost gauge, and a walbro 255 fuel pump.

what else do i need?

i have been thinking about an Rtec7 1.5 as well.

yes you need something to control the back pressure. if you have a stock turbo with stock wastegate u need to port it or you'll be over boosting all the time and could damage your engine and turbo.

even an S5 will boost creep like crazy. I had that exhaust with a 3" intake with no AFM and it would boost creep past 20 psi if I let it...

you need to port your wastegate bottom line. I went through a turbo before I found that out the hard way

Funny, on our S5, even without the 2 cats I haven't experienced boost creep, but do have the OE intake. Just keep the MBC at 11.5 and it's been fine.

Rtek 1.7 will eliminate the need for an FCD, you will also need larger secondaries. As mentioned, port the wastegate, make sure to open up the passages as well, not just the area where the flapper seals.

Some more SAFE things to do would be

Check grounds at all locations
Replace vac lines
Check PD for leaks/old
Clean injectors
Run some kind of 2-stroke oil once in awhile

But def port the wastegate if you add the exhaust. Might even go with the smaller 2 1/2" exhaust depending on your HP goals. The 2.1 would prob be a better upgrade then the 1.7 depending on cost of course.

Allright, I ordered some marren 750cc low impedence secondary injectors, gonna buy an rtec 1.7, and I'm going to port my wastegate as much as possible.

All of that combined with the walbro 255, boost gauge, and a wideband should make me good to go. Right? I've been thinking about an mbc as well.

Without a boost controller you will have no way of turning up the boost. Sounds like your on your way though. One thing I want to mention is that I have an s5 turbo that is very ported with the smaller 2 1/2" exhuast. I get boost creep on cold days and with a bigger exhuast I see problems. Only one way to find out though.
