im planning on getting and RB cat-back for my 91 GXL.

most ppl say its the best exhaust available for the N/A without being too loud.

ppl also mention its quite heavy...so my question: does the weight of this system cancel out the performance benefits in HP gain?

It is very HEAVY!!!! I had teh RB setup all the way from block to back, cut the mufflers off ans added stainless n1's....saved almost 16 lbs........but i don't know if it outwieghs the performance gains....

"might" be heavy compared to other aftermarket ones. but still way the hell lighter then the stock one....

well that's if you remove the cats... if it's only a cat back it'll probably just weigh the same as stock. and won't really add any power. most power is lost at the cats.

The stock exhuast is EXTREMELY restrictive and poorly designed, it's also quite heavy. Go from that to an extrememly well designed exuast that probably weighs less than stock, yeah it's worth it.

 

Yep, you probably won't feel much power gain by stock ex-manifold+stock cat+ RB catback. I felt so when I was running on that setup.
