I wouldnt think there would be any problems with doing that...its only pipe. I could be wrong though, so wait till someone that knows a little more posts on your thread. But there shouldnt be any issues with it.

No problem using the RB Turbo CAT BACK system. It may be slightly louder, but it will fit. Both the Turbo and N/A use the same dimension main converter, so the cat backs are interchangeable.

If it were the Y pipe and mufflers from the RB TURBO BACK system, it won't fit. Actually that wouldn't fit a turbo car either if it had the factory converter in place.

A friend of mine did this. You can do it, but you won't be using the down pipe. I forget but I think he had to bolt on the cat and everything behind it. He gutted his pre-cat. He complained about the noise being a little louder than my stock setup. He thought the gaskets were leaking, hehe.

Assuming it is the 2.5" catback, then it is the same. They will both bolt up in the same position as the stock y-pipe.

He did go back and correct himself, you know. Also, if in doubt, you can always call up racing beat. They are very helpful about this kind of thing.

Ohh... cat-back, I missed that part. I can't imagine it not fitting, but call RB to double check.

Like I said, a friend of mine put a full Racing Beat turbo exhaust on his N/A. It wasn't loud at all. Just a little louder than stock.

I bet some welding was involved.

Why call RB, IT WILL FIT:

Y-Pipe 86-92 RX-7 (All)
Part Number: 16447
Retail Price: $158.00

Racing Beat Y-Pipe for all 1986-92 RX-7 Applications

This Y-pipe is a perfect replacement for a failing stock component. The Racing Beat Y-pipe is slightly larger in diameter than the stock non-turbo Y-pipe, and matches the diameter (2.5” O.D.) of the stock TURBO II Y-pipe. Therefore, if you are replacing the muffler(s) on a TURBO II application, and unless the original stock Y-pipe is failing, there is no performance benefit to be gained from the addition of this Y-pipe. This Y-pipe includes the Cat-to-Y-pipe gasket. Manufactured from heavy-walled steel tubing and chrome plated for excellent durability.

Replacement Rubber Exhaust Hangers
We recommend the replacement of the original rubber exhaust hangers during the installation of any new exhaust component. It is our experience that over time the original rubber hangers can deteriorate, crack, and fail; which can result in the incorrect alignment of the exhaust system.

We offer replacement exhaust hangers for all models of 1986-92 RX-7’s. Review the Exhaust Hanger Chart for details on the exact components that are required for your exhaust system.

I have the 2.5" RB turbo catback on my 172rwhp n/a . I think I had it welded. You can get a shop to weld it in solid or get a custom flange put in. It's not that big of a deal.
