RB car-replacement pipes
Ok, I'm buying some pipes from RB and I've found something odd, to me at least.
"The down pipe is equipped with an exhaust back-pressure tube for correct operation of the 6-port actuators. Installation of this requires the removal of the air control and check valve and the air pump. "
So this says I have to remove my air pump foor this to work?? As well as my air control and check valve? Anyone know what the heck that is for? I figured this would just bolt up to the hose that was on the cat for this purpose.

It's just a small pipe that comes off the side. You can hook it up as a replacement for the split air pipe. Or you can do what everyone else does and wire them open and block the plate off.
It will provide enough back pressure to open the actuators if you hook it up in place of the ACV.

If I wanted to lose power I would wire them open, but then, I want MORE power What I'm confused about is why does it say that you have to remove the air pump and others for it to work?

umm...... I thought that the S4 used back pressure already? This makes a little more sense I guess. So instead of being gradually open they will basically be instant open? Does this not affect lowend power?

No, at a certain RPM the exhaust will push enough air through that pipe to trigger those actuators. If you call racing beat they can tell you exactly how many PSI at what RPM it will be. I asked them this a year or two ago when i bought mine, I cant' remember what the numbers were.

ok, cool. So how did you like the performance of it? I'm ordering mine at this moment.
And I can remove the air pump now eh? So was this the only function of the airpump? And since no airpump, I don't need another pipe coming off the intake so I can replace the stock airbox with a simple adapter. nice

Well in a stock car the air pump dumps fresh air into the cat and also provides the pressure to open up those 5th/6th ports. When I replaced my bonez pipe, I used the pineapple sleeves, deleted all emissions and wired the suckers open. So I didn't have a need for it and just blocked it off. If you leave it open it makes the exhaust sound terrible.
But yes you can remove that stuff, get yourself a cone filter with the MAF adapter. I 've got a spare one that came in a kit if you need it.
