RANT: my vert is so f-ing slow!!!
Just because in the year I graduated high school, you were sucking on ya momma's tit for nourishment, doesn't make me a "geezer"...well ok, to a young fart like you maybe it does. That just make me more the wiser.
Anywho, I have no problem spending money on my vert to make it enjoyable. Hell, I spent $900 on my '89 vert and over $2500 to get it back into road worthy condition, but I won't spend $4000 on a TII swap when my motor runs like a champ...now.
Yes, my vert is slow, but I like it that way, I can pick up the old ladies in their walkers better.

Verts are hard to find today ANYWAYS so I imagine it might be worth more in 10+ years.
There are many more coupe RX7's than verts but I also assume they'll appreciate in the next 10 years (mainly because the drifting fad will kill many, MANY good FCs and there are a few that do V8 swaps into them which render the car useless to a rotary enthusiast).
also remember that the turbo Rotary was only around in the U.S. from 87-95 in limited numbers (i think an 8 yr. run on turbo rotaries is limited compared to the 30+ years that the rotary has been on our shores)
in the end I have no idea where I was going with this but I'm posting anyways. I need coffee.

A turbo vert is the only way to go with a vert.. well for us rotor freaks anyway. After I semi finished the haltech install and everything in my vert.. I was kinda like.. man this would be so much faster in a coupe or a 1st gen. But then I was thinkin.. its priceless to be cruisin down the street with the top down and still beatin WS-6 trans ams

ill post pics asap.
oh yeah, and i havent decided what i want to do with the na engine yet. sell the long block, or part it? it runs good considering.

also, i just happen to have my semi built 13bt with ceramic housings, solid corners, 93 corner springs, and RA seals, and (soon) bnr stage 1 or 2 turbo. (depending on what i find in terms of the injector capabilities of the rtek 2.0 are.) so pending on that and the insurance check, the turbo drive train is goin in real soon. like before sept. so in this respect. i do consider my self very lucky because of how rare they are. im blessed i guess you could say with this opportunity.
HA!!! Isn't that the truth. Hurley, I believe you and I have similar setups. I've got an 89 vert with a S5 JDM turbo swapped into it. I did the whole thing, with driveshaft, diff. and halfshafts. Looks like we have the same exhaust also.
It was worth my money just cause there isn't another convertible that I've sat in that I like as much as my RX. I thought about going old school and getting back into american muscle. My first car I bought was a 67 Firebird from Cali, with a 326 and a lil' cam in it. I went to a car show and realized that I've grown soft and spoiled. I had forgotten how uncomfortable the seats are, how little they had in creature comforts, how poorly they handled. And lets face it....shoulder strap seatbelts are a good thing.

i couldnt agree more..aside from going fast right now...my friend was like man! its a convertible...and an rx7!! that was when i realized how lucky i got on my find. 1500 for a red vert with an OK na engine. no rust, and real fresh interior minus the carpet. BUT im going to be tearing that out, and replacing it, buying a new top ,which i need help with bad becuase i dont know what im doing. ebay tops okay? what about used. mine leaks so im trying to fix it real fast...and as soon as i get my insurence check, im doing to swap plus, swaping the rest of the 9k in parts over to the vert. WERD.

If you buy a Ebay top, don't get the one from AAbestco...I had one of theirs put on and it was short 1/2"-3/4 around the bottom where the top meet the doors:

The upholstery shop stretched the top like crazy just to get it to that point. The maker of the tops factory wanted me to remove the top and send it back so they can remeasure it and if they found nothing wrong, they were going to send it back to me. All of that was to take a month and a half, I told them to pound sand, because I didn't want my car no to have a top for that period of time.
I told them to make me a new one with the correct length sides and pay for the upholstery shop to remove the first one and to install the new one and then I'd send it back, they didn't go for it.
Since then, I informed them that I would do everything and anything to get people to steer clear of their tops, so here I am...Don't buy from AAbestco tops!!

idk. my vert is kinda slow because it has no torque . 3'' exhaust and tii injectors on an n/a . i bought it that way
i've driven 3 other convertibles. and one of them were really quick with out many mods.
i belive its the rear end ratio . because i know the ratio is different from vert to normal n/a.
