yeah
i just thought i would throw that out there. my t2 was totaled
minus..well, everything but the chassis. so right now im driving it until i get my engine hoist to pull my t2 engine and drive train to plop em in the vert. but i will say this....verts are pimp as ****! it so fun to just romp down the street like a ricer with my tac berried and be going like...40 mph, hahaha. can't wait to have my turbovert! -end rant.

Could be worse, it could be an auto vert, or it could be even worse a slipping auto vert. Before I did my turbo swap mine was auto and the trans was shot. It was a dog, couldn't beat ford expeditions that weren't even racing!
Its a whole new ballgame with a 5spd and a big turbo!

meh screw the 13bt. go for a 13bre, 20b or 26b. im regretting not doin that myself already. just suck it up buy a peripheral port 4 rotor, 2 pfcs and get all the goodies to support it, not to mention custom engine mounts and have fun, while you are at it, swing by my house and take me for a ride.
26b.... ahahahahaaha.
I know there have been a few 20b verts, I know they are lots of work to get going and not cheap.
I've heard that the 13bre is actually a pretty good fit and not THAT expensive.
That bing said I still LOVE my 13bt vert.
Hurleysurf, your sig says that you have a greddy FMIC but you still have the Top mount?

my 1991 coupe when it was an auto walked my friends 88 vert 5-speed all day long. it was hilarious.
so yeah me = 13B non-turbo, 3.9 rear end, autotragic coupe. haha. its a 5 speed now though thankfully and I still have the 3.9 in it for some odd reason. gas? money? idk. lol. turbo verts are the **** tho. I'd love to have one.

Ok, I'll give you that one...Money isn't the problem with my vert, I just don't see dropping another 4k+/- into a car that won't be worth anything in another 10 years or less. I'd rather sink that 4k into my '66 El Camino restoration project, at least I know that will be a straight up investment, guaranteed to get my money plus more when and if I decide to sell it.
schmol .. you dont think a great ocndition convertible with a turbo engine will be worth anything? How many turbo convertible were actually ever made in the united stated .. off the top of my head i can think of one or two that have no class or character like the rx7 (c70 volvo).
Think of the oh **** factor of having it in another ten years and people dropping there mouth about it
It's more about being an attention ***** type of thing lol

A turbo vert is the only way to go with a vert.. well for us rotor freaks anyway. After I semi finished the haltech install and everything in my vert.. I was kinda like.. man this would be so much faster in a coupe or a 1st gen. But then I was thinkin.. its priceless to be cruisin down the street with the top down and still beatin WS-6 trans ams

It's more about being an attention ***** type of thing lolLook at the value of these cars...back in '88-91, they cost anywhere from $25k to $30k and they are worth what today, $1000-3000. you can get a few extra thou if and only if you dropped the extra $4k for a turbo swap.
My 1966 El Camino cost $2600+/- back in 1966...now a days, you can't touch one for under $10k-15k(in good to excellent condition). It only increase in value as each yer passes.
I just don't get dropping $4000+ into a car that is always losing it's value every year. Believe me, I know what it feels like dropping money into a vehicle and only getting a fraction of the amount out of it when it sells.
I've built my first minitruck back in the late 80's and sunk tens of thousands of $$ in engine work, suspension work(hydraulics, air bags, etc)mega 1000watt stereo systems, new interiors, etc into several other minis and other compact cars only to sell them for pennies on the dollar.
What do you think your turbo vert will be worth in ten years?
It might be worth something, but it being worth a whole lot in another ten years, I don't see it. 98% of cars that were made in the past 20 years only depreciate in value.

As all the fc start to dry up they will go up in value eventually. Imagine 20 years from now MY 87 TII will be 40yrs old. How many will be driving around in mint cond?
I've heard this qoute often---
I had one of those cars when I was younger! SHOULD have kept it cause its worth a fortune now. I sold it for next to nothing.
Very few.
yes na ftmfl lol
its not an investment .. like i said we are having fun with our hobbies/passions. if it holds value great but im not planning on it. I'm just saying the oh **** factor of seeing one of these in great condition in 10 years is something to take into consideration though

Just because in the year I graduated high school, you were sucking on ya momma's tit for nourishment, doesn't make me a "geezer"...well ok, to a young fart like you maybe it does. That just make me more the wiser.
Anywho, I have no problem spending money on my vert to make it enjoyable. Hell, I spent $900 on my '89 vert and over $2500 to get it back into road worthy condition, but I won't spend $4000 on a TII swap when my motor runs like a champ...now.
Yes, my vert is slow, but I like it that way, I can pick up the old ladies in their walkers better.
