Question Random questions with a motor that wont run.

Well theres all sorts of problems I have had since I put in a supposively good rebuilt motor that had 5k on it.

I get about 85-87 on each face, each rotor cold (Not the best), but can not get it to start on it's own. I have to turn off the pump, fill the faces with oil and put starting fluid in the intake...then, IF I am lucky, can switch on the pump, but it will only run a little bit than die.

The odd thing, its hard as hell to get started even this way likes it still flooded. It will kick a few like it wants to start over and over, when it does this...it stops when I spray fluid in, then after awhile...starts to kick again.

Every now and then it will actually start, but wont run for even 1 full minute.

It acts like its flooded even when theres no fuel...what give?

**Side note, after some time of trying to get it to run..the motor was surely warm, yet the temp gauge still had no reading.

Items checked:

TPS
timing
new injectors/connectors
MAF
Readings on all pins at ECU
Swapped ECU
New FPR
Fuel pressure good up to injectors.

a stuck seal perhaps my friend had the same problem it would start with fluid but would not stay running I guess there are forums about running a fluid through the spark plugs and crank it for a while then it will free up the sealing edge. read up. But after that the car ran fine and the seal is unstuck.

I have read about adding ATF and letting it sit over night to free up a stuck seal, I guess I can give it a try.

Anyone one else have any ideas?

Is it possible this is a JDM engine which I usderstand has the hard fuel lines on the left side of the engine opposite of the USA version? Jumper the fuel pump check connector, turn the key to ON and pull the RETURN line off the engine and see if you do/do not get sprayed with fuel. IF you do get sprayed, then the lines were on right and you have another problem.

Would every thing bolt up to it from my US motor? The person I bought this from said it was from a AE, but thats as much information as I got. So I will pull the line and see what happens.

Thanks.
