Random Question...im still new..

ok,im planning on buying another car...he says the engine staryts and runs but heres the problem

it instantly jumps to 6-7k RPM's and stays thare
and
it smokes when its running...he didnt specify if it was white smoke or black smoke(to see if it was running too lean)

im assuming its a vacuum leak ..epsecially if its idling at 7k...ive heard of 3 k,,but 7 k...and id rather not pay to find out whats wrong with it,i pretty much wanna know if id be able to drive it 200 miles home

i really wanna know if its symptoms of a blown apex seal

doesn't sound like a blown apex seal, if it was blown the car would shake violently. sounds like either a vacuum leak or some sort of wiring problem

Oil o-rings or coolant seals. I think there's a "test" to see if the oil o-rings have gone. Rev it up
to 4K and smoke should start coming out. Since it's already at 7K, I'm guessing they're gone.
I seriously doubt you could drive it home at 7K RPM. If the clutch is still good you could launch
at every stop light.

I don't know much about these cars but I have read A LOT A LOT of threads. You could ask the
rotary gurus for confirmation.

Another thing you'll have to watch for is your fuel level. 200 miles at 7K RPM...
How many tanks of gas you think it'll take?

i dunno,im expecting like 2,,mabye..ne nevr said he drove it..he started it up..i dunno, not liek it will change much, but im hoping its just throttle linkage or vaccum lines...i hope to god im not hauling *** down highways..in a car that unregistered/uninsured and i already have 1 felony for that pending right now,im not sure how im gunna transport it just yet...thats why im asking these question before i do something stupid as hell..again..last time i got a car,i blew it up halfway home..and got a ticket....my statement,,never buy a 240sx..you cant drive them like a rotary

On the front of the throttle body there is a small screw that *should* be covered by something so that you cannot tamper with it. Make sure it is still there. If it is gone it will make the idle high as hell. I know because mine worked its' way loose one time. I curse the last owners of this car every day.

wel im planning on getting a new engine....if it neds to happen,my friend has a street ported with 40k on it,,so im assuming its a bad idea to actually keep the orignal engine in it...so ..apparently push is coming to shove,,is it driveable???for 200 miles?
