raising gas pedal

Im trying to learn more about heel toe shifting and i think it would be al ot easier if my pedals would line up better. Can i just put washers under the moutning bolts for the gas pedal to raise it a half inch or so that when I'm hitting the brakes hard, the brake and gas line up better?

Also, are there any tips to learning the heel-toe method?

Practice. It's the only way to get good at it.

Remove the gas pedal on just bend it, I used a 1/2 inch ID X 5 ft long cheater pipe.

Uh, pedal covers???
Razo makes some very nice designs, and some of them are adjustable just for this purpose.

Yes – just bend the pedal rod to your preference, but not too much – then practice, practice.

I learned to drive on an old 1949 Morris Minor (great grandaddy of the Mini Cooper).
It had NO synchronizers, so you had to double pedal & double clutch all down shifts.

The Austin Healy Sprite inherited the Morris driveline. They added synchros to 2-3-4, but 1st was still a spur gear.
In autocross, getting into 1st at 20MPH can make a big difference.

I double pedal down shift & shuffle steer in daily driving just for the fun of it.

Zoom zoom – yea!

my GXL is bone stock, and it's perfect for heel-toe shifting...at least, compared to every other car I've driven over the past 4 years. You shouldn't have to change a thing except the way you're trying to do it. (remember, you don't actually use your heel and toe, you use the sides of your foot)
