Exclamation Rained with top down, hit a puddle, no spark.

Stock 88' Vert Non-turbo.

Problem:
Rained on the interior heavy for a bout 10 minutes, no problems car started. Driving it home I smashed a 6 inch deep puddle on the road going about 35. Speedometer started glitching shortly after. About 5 minutes after that I came to my first red light, and it stalled while the clutch was in. Won't start.

The next day I tried:
Took plugs and injector fuse out and cranked motor. Nothing much came out, maybe some gas. Spark plugs were wet with gas.
Put in new plugs. Coil and wires look fine. No start. Tested with screwdriver in cap for spark not getting any.

What else can I try? I don't have a multimeter/VOM but I am willing to go buy one, but I would like to try other things first if their any. During searching the forums I read to check the CAS. Can anyone give me a brief explanation on doing so?

Thanks in advance.

You need a meter or you're basically just flying blind.

What I want to know is how a purely mechanical speedometer starts "glitching". Seems totally unrelated to whatever electrical problem you may have.

Have you pulled the passenger side carpet to make sure the ECU isn't sitting in its own puddle of water?

You're going to have to check your fuses and start chasing the problem. Chances are all that water shorted something out.

I pulled back the carpet to check the ECU and their was about 3 inches of water on the floor under the carpet. I was amazed that much got in. I checked the ECU and it was completely dry but it was definitely possible that water got to the very bottom where the plugs are/connect to. Should I just try a new ECU or is their any troubleshooting I can do?

Here's the inside of my ecu. It did have some water in there. I noticed one of these resistors is damaged. Are these mazda resistors or replacements available anywhere?

gotta figure out the resistance and any electronic shop would have one. probably free if thats all you needed. BUT soldering/desoldering those boards can/will be a PITA... fair warning
