I just bought a '91 Rx7 non , and thus far i love it.

The only problem is the sound system is broken. The graphic equalizer screen is cracked and when you turn on the radio the lcd kinda turns on a little bit and the door ajar light comes on in the dash.


So you guys know more then i do, what do i need to do, to fix it, keeping in mind i am on a budget.

 

well it looks like you have a short in the wiring or just some bad wiring... when i installed my radio if u mix the wires up the lights in the cabin will turn on or some buzzer will go off. take the radio out and redo the wiring. my bet is that whoever had the car before spliced the wires and just didnt put them in the right places.

 

it is the stock radio that came with the car so i dont think anyone messed with it, also the clock resets it self everytime i turn off the car and when i turn on the radio.

I know the car has electical problems because i just but an alternator in it but i would like to figure them out.

 

hmm...... i dunno man lol i had alot of weird problems when i first got my fc.... first thing i did was dump that bose radio and i installed my own.. worked like a charm... my clock also always reset till it died good luck

 

So if i want to replace it what do i have to buy (like amp, speakers, everything or what) also any suggestions on a decent system for someone on a budget.

 

Blown room fuse

 

i have taken out the room fuse and the same problem occurs, the fuse looks blow and appears to be a 3A fuse when from what i have read it should be a 7.5A fuse

so should i replace it with a 7.5A fuse or a 3A

 

Well it is not the room fuse because i just replaced it and the problem is not solved the same thing happens.

If i need to replace it how much do i need to buy
just the deck?
if so where can i get a cheap one in canada?

 

If the door ajar light is coming on, it is a blown fuse.

And the fuse values are found in teh FAQ for FC sticky thread found at the top of this page

 

I replaced the audio and the room fuse (which was blown) the room fuse fixed the door ajar light thing and now my clock works perfectly but the radio doesnt work so does this mean i have to buy a new deck

any ideas

if i have to get a deck when can i get a decent one for a cheap price ( I am still in school so i am poor)

 

If the station indicator is very faint, as well as the equalizer, the lcd displays are shot and no replacements are available.
I had Mark work on an extra unit I had because the station indicator was pale. He tried his best, but couldn't get one to replace the original, so I have the extra radio and equalizer in the garage. Hard to believe, but maybe a year later, the lcd started to worked properly, and to this day it's still in the car.

 

Well when i turn on the deck the equalizer does nothing because the screen is cracked but the radio faintly flickers.

I just want to make sure i have exhuatsed all of the options because if i buy a deck and there are more problems with the system its going to **** me off.
