radiator size for TII

Anyone tried fitting a 26W x 20H x 3D 3core aluminum radiator in their TII? I think a 26W will fit . My damn radiator cannot keep up and now running about 210 degrees on the freeway. For now I'm using the heater to bring down the temp a little .

I've got a 26x19 in my FC.. Can't use stock mounts, gotta fabricate something to hold it in, and watch the battery ifyou want to keep it up front.

I would assume the battery tray will need to go right?
With a 26" , did you have to relocate the battery? I'm not sure if a 3" thick unit will fit without doing something about the battery. How thick is your rad. ?

No, I kept the stock location, but it's tiiiight. I had to shave a bunch of plastic off the stock tray, and my rad mount is a bit too beefy, so I can't use a stock size battery, I'm using a little Hawker mini battery at the moment.

Griffin is 2" I think, never measured. My buddy with a 10sec. blown Z28 said that my radiator is bigger than his LOL

Ahhh...ok . Cool. Thanks. Damn, if the 2" you have is tight, the 3" is going to be a problem. I'm getting the Greddy 3 core radiator . Ack, I'll figure something out when it gets here. It shouldn't be as hard as making your own custom IC pipes.
Thanks for the info.

Move that battery you bitch!

Don't gimme to smack about you don't know how...
http://fc3s-pro.com/TECH/MODS/EL/BATT/batt.htm

That AFCO rad won't fit - it's really too wide for the endtanks, so you need to weld some mount flanges onto it.

Stock rad and rad core dimesions:&nbsp http://fc3s-pro.com/TECH/MODS/COOL/rad.htm

Griffins are made to order. The one on my 20B is 26 3/8 x 3 x 16". LOL, your radiator is bigger than mine, too. Does it scrape on the road?

BTW, I'm still trying to figure out where to put the battery.

nope But I am worried about it fitting the plastic undertray. I may have to put a big slot in it for the radiator to sit in.

See, my buddy who welds, made up these beauuutiful mounts. Those things aren't going ANYWHERE, and shouldn't stress crack or anythign. However, they take up one corner of the battery box.

The little hawker battery I'm running is ok for the race car, cranks over fine (and I've got decent compression)

Yeah, forgot about those custom griffins.. I got mine from Summit.. Should gone custom, would have saved me some interesting radiator hose placement. I'll probably order another one next year with all the right fittings, just because I don't like having this long *** hose on top of the engine.

whats wrong with the fluidyne(spelling?) radiator? Don't they make one designed for the FC's? Thats the one I planed on getting.

I was just thinking .. they say rotaries are 30-40% oil cooled. I might be wiser & cheaper to upgrade your oil cooler instead? Y/N?

I heard that our stock OIL COLLERS are one if not the largest OEM O.C around. You can upgrade it with those monster ones but why?..your not running BONNEVILLE.

I have been to alot of drag race and seen high horse power rotaries running stock oil cooler.

ohh and those monster oil cooler cost more than a big radiator!..

I don't think that they make mounts. You can order at the link below. Note that you need to specify everything - dimensions, bungs, inlets, outlets, draincocks, etc. If you don't know what you are doing, it may be better to just get the Fluidyne drop-in.

Not quite as good as the Griffin, and they will not make a custom radiator. However, they are still very good, and yes, there is a model which bolts right in to the FC.

About the same, maybe more depending on what you order.

Yes, the stock FC oil cooler is very good. Yes, better oil cooling will help cool the engine like the radiator. The Mocals are pretty good, and not all that expensive, although the stock cooler will work fine for most people.

i just installed a fluidyne on my 88 Turbo, yes it is kind of high $$$, but it works great. Basicly so far what I've found, if out side temp is 80F or lower, the car temp gauge runs at 1/4 on the scale, between 80-90F it will run around 1/3, however anything that seems to be 90F and up, and with the AC on, car runs 1/2 on the scale, car ran 1/2 on the scale with the old radiator, sometimes just a little higher also, but never near 3/4 on the scale. Also, my car has a FMI so how this will also effect cooling.

That still seems a little high. 1/2 on the '88 temp gauge is about 210 deg. Do you still have the underpan and blocked the areas where air could flow around the radiator instead of through it? If you do have it, I'm surprised it isn't cooler than that. Mine is similar to yours as I'm running 1/2 on the freeway at about 3000rpm with the FMIC. When I had the stock clutch fan it was better where the temp never got to 1/2 but with the electric fan (can't use stock fan because of piping) temp rise was noticeable. There's nothing wrong with my cooling system since at idle or in town temp stays near 190. I'm waiting on my radiator so for now I have to keep the heater on on the freeway with a 85 deg and 80 %humidity weather.

Does a E-Fan outperform the stock clutch fan? Or is the idea of a E-Fan just to gain a little HP from the pulley?

Also ... what is this fan? Is it just for the A/C or is this fan worth upgrading?

Is that somehow worse than plastic end tanks? For the price, I can buy 2 Griffins for the cost of one of these other radiators
