Radiator Bleed screw... *#$%

So i am trying to bleed my coolant system of the excess air one weekend long ago.. And i break the screw, now i can't get another one because they are not sold seperatly, you have to buy the whole radiator assembly... Screw that, now how to i bleed and get my coolant system pressurized... Anyone know where i can get a cap? None of the junk yards want to sell them either because "what if some one wants to buy the rad" I was thinking of plugging it with a bolt and a rubber o-ring to keep pressure... How are systems bled with aftermarket rads?

Are we talking about the screw at the end of the radiator that tends to STRIP LIKE A **** ALWAYS?!? I hate that screw let me pull you up a mazdatrix part number for just the screws its like 20 bucks tho, gimme a second.

Edit- its 10 bucks, that should be it, its 2 plastic screws that are at the bottom of the rad and at the end of the top of it to the left right?

mazda canada should have it, i put in a different rad a few months ago and it was about $12.00. Some times they cant find the proper numbers, i called to see if they has stock on some spark plugs the other day and they said they didnt carry them, i just laughed and gave him the part number and told him to remember it b/c i was going to get more in a few months

It "tends" to strip when it's mistreated. It will only strip if you overtighten it and/or use the wrong sized screwdriver. It's just plastic, so you need to treat it with a little respect.

An easy way to undo stripped plastic plugs is to heat up the tip of a flat bladed screwdriver and gently push it into the plug just far enough that when it cools you have a nice slot to undo it with.

Or cut a nice slot in it with a dremel.
