Are you sure you want a racing seat? Racing seats do not recline and are usually FIA approved.

Or rather, an affordable racing seat is probably not going to be FIA approved, and whether or not it will hold up in a wreck is...questionable.

IMO my fixed back racing seat is more comfortable than the stock seat.

I'd suggest you go with a legitimate brand when it comes to buying a seat (Sparco, Recaro, Bride, etc).

Although I haven't had any problems with my F1 Spec Type 3...yet

 

fia has nothing to do wither it will hold up in a street wreck,

if it does whats the diff between same seats but one with fia, and the other w/o??

The difference is that one has been tested by the FIA, while the other one doesn't. And whether or not it meets the standards, or not.

Brands like F1 Spec don't crash tests their seats. Brands like SPARCO do.

Saying it's for off road use only is purely because they're not DOT approved.

 

For most people "Not DOT Approved" means not safe for the road

if I buy a RACING SEAT then I expect it to meet SOME racing REGULATIONS, which includes safety.

There are NEW Momo Starts for '07, I didin't notice any changes but it's supposed to be a new design. The Start IS the best racing seat you can get for under 300 bux. I still vote for milk crate though.

Old bottom mount vs. new side mount . Also, bigger openings for harness install which means you probably don't have to slide the harness mount end through first.

 

hmmm, I didn't know about the sidemount. Should help with the helmet clearance for the taller ppl.

Go with mazdaspeed seats man, they look awesome and they're designed FOR our cars.

 

I thought the Sparco Sprint was Cheaper, $285 before the rail. Thats why I bought two.

But if you want a real seat, and not some cheap gay ****, OR the bottom of teh line Bride's that the Doriftos are tossing in their cars, get a Bride Gardis. $1500, super ******' secure, super ******' comfortable, and you will not see one in a ricer mobile I garuntee. I'll be getting one when its time to work on the interior.

 

If I'm gonna blow 1500 on seats then I'd hit up FDNewbie and buy the CF Kevlar OEM FD RZ seats. THOSE are THE seats.

 

Sit in a Gardis. It will change your life

 

looks like a big cusion but the RZ ones still look easier to get in and out of.

 

i keep seeing threads like this, SOMEONE please god, send me pics of a f1spec r1 seat in our cars. good god, doesnt anyone have this seat? or at least a bride gias, i just want to see clearence issues (im 6'4) and i am just a picture *****.

i have 2 of the type 3 and i love them. i havent made brackets yet but hopefully ill get it done over xmas
