racing beat question

hi i just got a bonus from work and have about 500 bucks to spend and i want exhuast for my car. i am looking to get headers and a presilencer. but i don't know if i need to get the road race header or the streetable. the road race i know is alittle ore expensive and will need a few mods to bolt on but is it worth the extra power or not.

also which sounds better and preforms better? thanks

Do emissions matter where you live?

If you're keeping the stock catback, you'll need the collected header.

i believe if you get the road race you'd have to replace your entire exhaust because its true dual all the way back. as apposed to getting the collector and presilencer that bolts right up.

as long as it is a single pipe the turbo catback will hook up. the road race y pipe keeps it two pipes so you'd have to get a road race presilencer and header. also you'd have to buy somethign else that i can't remember. the cat back mufflers don't bolt up to the road race y pipe you have to get some extensions or something like that. if i were you i'd stick with single pipe all the way if you only have $500 to work with. if you get $1000 then do the full road race exhaust.

Entirely too loud. Mine was too loud with the header, presilencer, and OEM cans. The only thing that made it tolerable was when I bought a pair of RB cans. Of course, my RB cans cost ~$450 by themselves. More money or earplugs. The choice is yours.

are you saying that the presilencer does not do much for noise then or what?

The presilencer helps a lot. But, NAs are rather loud to begin with, and a NA with a header is insanely loud.

If you want that header you could collect it about 95" from the exhaust ports, and it would be a long primary collected exhaust, tuned about right, and make about as much power as you can get from an exhaust. You could either run it out one pipe, or into a y-pipe depending on how loud you can stand it (how many mufflers you want to be able to jam on it)

Earlier you stated you have "now mufflers on it is straight throught from cat back". This could be a language issue. If you mean there is a company called "now" that produces mufflers, then maybe it will be quiet enough. If your communication skills are such that you meant "no mufflers after the main catalytic converter", which is what I took it to mean, then let me make this perfectly clear -

Although the presilencer does an admirable job of quieting the exhaust noise on a rotary, it was designed to work in conjunction with mufflers. If you run an NA, with headers, to a presilencer, and there are no other mufflers in the exhaust stream, then the car will be entirely too loud.
