Race or Not ???

I want to know if I put a J-spec in my 10th Ann. Is there a good way to get the best of both worlds???
What I mean by this is,
Can I make it street legal (CALI EMISSONS) as well as Have it ready for the track???
I want to put a J-Spec in, but still be able to KICKASS out on the track????
Any and ALL help is greatly appreciated!!!

easily done, just make sure that you keep the cat on for street, and use the DP and race pipe for the track. That is what Im going to do. My car passes here in UT

Cali and Utah are WAY different. Move everything from your old motor to the new shortblock, you should be fine.

Uhm,
My cousin is putting a Jspec engine inside his T2. He ran into problems with the fact there were no vaccum hose hookups for the emissions on his car. There also was no hook up for the master brake cylinder. (The intake manifold didn't have the connections for the emissions stuff).
Hope this helps.

The line for the power brake booster is there, it is just on the other side since the motor came from a RHD car. He is correct as far as the vacuum lines go. You could though splice them into other vacuum lines and still retain smog legality. It will really depend on how dumb the smog guy you go to is. I would definately get it prechecked before you smog it to make sure. Like Brad said, remove everything off your stock longblock, and bolt it to the J-Spec short block and you should be ok. Let me know if there are any specific things when you do it that you are confused with, as I have a 91 J-Spec motor in my 86 and it is located in LA.

Iv got one and there is NO EGR valve in the j-specs, And youll need it. Youll need a lower intake from a CA, car to make it pass.

Im curently in WA. Move here from CA. Iv had lots of smog/BS problems. CA. just take it to far. DEQ

Are you just trying to get the newer engine with lighter & higher compression rotors? Don't think the J-spec motor or turbo will do much for you.
