Arrow R&R Differential Carrier Bearing's..

I need to know how to remove and replace the Carrier Bearing's on the diff. is there a special tool for it? are they pressed on? Do you pry them off?

Does anyone know if there is a decent write-up on the matter? Please post the link so i can get this done..It is for a 1987 T2 Differential..i have included picture's to show what i am talking about..

I picked the diff. up and decided to rebuild it, once i took it apart i noticed that one of the bearing's is damaged (The one in the first picture.). Which is the reason for the thread..so i might as well replace both instead of just one. (Both=Logical thing to do.) I looked in the haynes manual and i tryed searching the forum..there's nothing, or im not typing the correct word's in the box..one of the two.

Help. Please. Thank You..

You just use a bearing puller. They are press fit bearings. The FSM has good instructions and pics on how to do this.

The link below pages starting at 9-29 go over what you want to do.

A bit of advice, The T2 manual is WRONG on the correct specs for the disks and clutches. There is a really good writeup on rebuilding the differential for 2nd gens, I partially used it when I swapped the T2 in my FD. I have a semi decent writeup in the 3rd gen section when I did mine, though it's not detailed it does have some important info that applies to you. The miata forum has a lot of good information on shimming out the clutches to either add new life to a differential, or give it a stronger lockup, usually they do it on NA rx7's but the concept and information it the same. Here's some links to get you started. There's tons more out there.
