theres supposed to be a cover on the bottom you can remove and see the guts that the n/a's dont have, also i think the starters in a different place too

if its out of the car and you have a known NA trans, the TII is noticably heavier. I believe the removable cover is right as well. Its a plate on the bottom held in by a bunch of bolts. I have a NA and a TII trans in my storage shed, i'll take a look at them this weekend and see if there are any other tell tale signs

thanks guys for the quick reply. i need a TII trans for my turbo vert project... and i just found a bunch of free parts: a trans, upper intake manifold.. the manifold is definatly a turbo mani and he says it came off the same car so it very well could be a free turbo transmission!!

Post a pic. and you'll know very quickly. The TII also has a removable Bellhousing and has ribs along the side, whereas the NA is smooth. Also, the TII has two fill and drain plugs. Lastly, if you have a known NA driveshaft, it won't fit at the back of the TII tranny....but posting a pic. will give you a definite answer.

N/A bottom, T2 top.

Small pic, but you get the idea. Right away you can tell the difference in bell housing.
