Quick question on changing plugs

Hi,

I'm doing some routine maintenance tomorrow, including spark plugs, and I can't remember.. is it better to let the car sit overnight and change them on a cold engine, or should I warm it up, let it cool down for an hour or two and then change them? I want them to come out easy.

Thx

I'd say full cold would be best.

Of course, if you put anti-seize on the plugs when installed, it wouldn't matter.

Plugs are easier to remove when cold.

Don't use anti-sieze on your NGK spark plugs. See this TB:

I have the dealer change the plugs on my F150. I swear there is no way for a normal human being to change the plug closest to the passenger side of the firewall, lol.

i find them easier to remove when hot, broken a number of plugs on cold engines.

and +1 on no anti seize. if the plugs are getting difficult to install or remove the threads should be cleaned. best method i use is apply MMO to the plug threads and run them in and out by finger a few times. the carbon will come out on the threads and get easier to thread in and out each pass.

Seems like their recommendation should be: Don't overtorque the plugs, fool!"

Thanks for the tips guys

Not sure if the PO used anti-seize on the plugs or not, but I'm glad it was mentioned not to.. I had a packet ready to go.

I break the plugs loose Hot or warm. and let it sit for 20-30 minutes so i cant touch the plugs. I always put them in and take them out By hand. I always screw it down by hand wrench it so its Snug.
