Question Quick question...

Do the brake master cylinder and the clutch master cylinder share the same fluid? I just bought my car and the clutch fluid was brown, so I flushed the brown fluid out and bled my clutch. It was hard to get into gear today so I checked the fluid and it is brown again. I opened up my brake master cylinder to look inside but there is that plastic piece making it so I can't see the fluid, but I'm pretty sure it's brown as well. So do these reservoirs share the same fluid? (feel dumb asking but I thought i remembered someone saying they do) And if that isn't the case, why is my clutch fluid turning brown so quickly? Thanks in advance.

They USE the same fluid, they don't share the fluid. Each cylinder has a small tank of its own, not anywhere closely related. As to why your fluid is coming back brown? I don't have an answer for that and I'm not going to take any guesses. Someone will come along shortly and answer your question though.

Yeah I knew I felt dumb asking that haha, it didn't make any sense to me but that's what I thought I had read somewhere. Thanks for the reply.

The plastic piece you're referring to pops right out. Mine turns brown shortly after filling it up. If it really bothers you, you can remove the slave cylinder, clutch master, and the hose. Disassemble the slave and master, and give them a good cleaning with brake/carb cleaner. It would be beneficial to rebuild them at this point as well, as the rebuild kits are cheap and readily available at any parts store.
