Quick Convertible Question

I tried doing a search but couldnt find exactly the explanation I was looking for. A link or help would be great if anybody can. Im working on my first convertible, and I was trying to check the top out and lower it yesterday and the parking brake was indeed set, I unhooked the targa latches, but when I turn the vert. **** I get a beep and I can hear what sounds like the vert motors running but I get absolutely no movement from the top? Am I just looking at blown vert motors? The motors were pretty loud and didnt sound weak but what should I look for and what does the beep mean?

Maybe the linkages are unhooked? Maybe the latches were not really released? I don't know.

If the linkages are unhooked, you should be able to lower the top by hand from that closed position. Just push up on the front edge of the targa from below; If it is unhooked, the targa should rotate up and back following the rest of the top.

The motors are actually supposed to be very quiet. Take the spare tire cover off, along with the side panel covering the seat belts and look at the motors. Make sure the gears aren't stripped. Also try to smell for a burnt motor.
