Quick clutch question
I noticed last night that the friction point in my clutch seemed to have dropped a bit. Instead of it going in around half way, i had to push it closer to the floor. Didn't have any problems really, so I drove home.
The next day, it ran fine, until I tried to leave after school. I pushed it to the floor, but it wouldn't go in gear, it just kept grinding. I turned the car off, popped the hood, checked the fluid, then started it back up, and everything was fine.
So here's the question: Is this an issue I should address now before it turns into a bigger problem? Is my fluid low? Or is the clutch going out? When I drove to work today, it ran perfect, and the friction point seemed to be more close to normal then last night.

You can look under the hood to check if your clutch fluid is where it should be at. My car does this though. Some days I can drive it some days I can't because of the problem. I haven't found the source of the problem but I am planning on taking it in to get a new clutch. But it could be a much more simple problem. Take it to a transmission mechanic to look it over.

If there's a leak in your system, find it and repair it.
Pretty cut and dry.

Thanks for the tips. Actually i found something pretty weird... i found that if i don't feel any resistance before i start it up, i just pump the clutch for a minute, then it's perfectly fine. I'm gonna do some research on it... mebbe get a writeup and try to fix any problems myself

nuber of problems you fluid is low, the adjusting rod on the pedal is lose and over time a has screwed it's self back for the clutch to engage at the floor, a hole or leak in the line, bad or wasted clutch that is do for a change, bad clutch slave cylinder probably has a bad seal and is leaking there, bad pressure plate no longer usable, or bad clutch resevoire that is also leaking inbetween the fire wall and the unit it's self.
These are all things that could be fixed at home save yourself the money and work from the inside of the car all way back to the tranny. I say just buy all new parts.
The clutch resovoire isn't going cost you more then 30.00 bucks the line maybe 15 bucks the clutch cylinder 25 bucks pressure plate and clutch 150.00 bucks and some change. change all that and adjust the rod on the pedal and you got yourself and brand new setup for under 300.00 bucks

i would make a bet that its your master cylinder, that same thing happened to me. I replaced my master cylinder put new fluid in, bled it.....and lived happily ever after.....then i blew a coolant seal but anyway look into that. Even though the master cylinder is a biatch to replace just make sure to check it...
