temp on the stock gauge varies depending on year i believe. For s4's they are supposed to read around 1/3 the way and for s5's I think they are a little closer to half. That rpm range sounds about right for idle, stock is around 750 I think, and I don't think a sp should change the idle too much.

Yeah mine is a streetported TII s4 that I just rebuilt. I have the idle set high right now to about 1100-1200 since it only has 90 miles on it. The temp is right at 1/3 the way though. What is your temp gauge reading? Mind you they are not very accurate...

Mine has Stage 2 street port, on the larger side and it idles well at 850-900. That may be a little high but I think I have charging system issues. Any thing below that at night with my foot on the brake, stereo on, lights on, heater on and the idle drops below 700. The lights then dim, voltage goes down and the idle turns ruff. It could be a vaccum leak too. I would look for an idle aroun 750- even 900 should be ok. My temp never moves from a little less then the 1/3 mark (two needle widths away from low hash mark). My car is a S4. Will be installing an auto meter temp gauge soon, so I can read the exact temp. That helps.

the temp is reading a little under half way according to the owner of the car i might buy it from said it's normal because its a large street port. Is this accurate? Anyone else also experience this?
