im looking at moving from my 87n/a to a gen 2 turboII and have a couple of questions - if i buy a car with say 100k+ km, what shape is the turbo going to be in? what is the stock turbo output pressure, 5psi or so? finally, what kind of mileage are you guys getting?? thanks

 

depends on the care/maintenance of the previous owner.

you can expect 15-17 mpg city and 20-22 hwy under normal driving
you can expect 10-13 mpg when boosting all the time and 17-19 hwy when boosting.

 

if the car is in good shape you can expect 350-450KM per tank of mixed driving, up to 500km highway and sometimes less than 350 in the city. Pretty similar milage to an n/a really..

I've only seen one or two blown turbos, they all had a TON of miles on them - ususally they last pretty long. Overall condition of the car is what you need to look at.
