Questions re: pwr steering removal
Is it possible to remove the power steering without any mods? Ie. plugging up the feed/return pressure lines into the box etc. I have an '89 na
any warnings caveats???
FYI>>> For some reason, Mazda's engineers thought that if the car lost grip (in their fancy terms "an anomoly in the coeffiecient of friction") then the computer would call to lighten the steering effort as to warn the driver of sketchy operating conditions. This means, if your working a drift, your steering effort actually decreases, ie. connection to the road!? Who wants that?
Thanks for everyone's insight.

i aherd people loop the line but its 3 hoses
changing the rack-n-pinion to a non power steering will get that problem solve but then you have to get an alignment and make sure you get a good use part, not reallt worth it but its weight reduction
i was blesh it no power stering but everyone that has driven my car says i'm have been curst w/o it

I removed my pump and all of the hoses and tapped the holes in the rack with a 3/8 NPT tap. Then I just put a 3/8 NPT plug in each hole. I left the fluid in the rack. It works pretty well, and the effort is about the same as my brother's TII with a manual rack.
