Questions on potential rx7 purchase

I am currently looking at buying a 90 Rx7 convertible, black on black with 5 speed transmission.

Car seems in pretty decent shape, around 60k miles. Top is ripped in two spots, and drivers side seat is starting to show some wear.

I always liked these cars but do not know much about them, just that they have a rotary motor.

What do u think is a fair price for this car? Tires seem ok, and I guess everything runs and drives fine. Paint seems pretty nice, starting to fade on the hood in a few spots.

Also, how hard would it be to put a turbo setup on this car? I am very familair with 3.8L turbo buick grand nationals, but know very little about these machines.

Any info appreciated.

I was able to buy a '90 vert a month ago. Absolutely pristine. 49K on chassis, 3K on Atkins rebuilt.

I suspect it had badly flooded and the owner who knew little brought to a mechanic who knew leven less and diagnosed no compression as a blown engine. His loss my gain.

Runs perfect after TPS adjusted. New paint no overspray and not a single ding, blem or scuff mark anywhere. New BAC and TPS. Top looks new, ditto the cover. Interior looks factory new. Nearly new Yoko AVS dBs rubber. After market floor mats worn but thats a petty issue.

Paid $4,400 which was very reasonable. Yours for less. Cost of new top will not be cheap. Any car is worth what the buyer is willing to pay.

Frankly, I see no great advantage of turboing a vert. They are a 1 - 2 hundred pounds (?) heavier than coups and not sure the cost and wicked conversion trouble and cost would be worth it. She will be a great cruiser.. enjoy her should you decide to get it.

What are some common problems to look for on these cars? I want to make sure that i know what im looking for.

Seats looked cool with the speakers in headrest.

I think i might be able to pick the car up in the 3500 dollar range.

any more input appreciated.
