Question Questions with a new car

My car is making some weird noises and i dont know what they are. I read the thread on te popping but mine sounds like a really loud, and i mean LOUD pop every two or three revs. Right now i have no exhaust at the beginning of the y pipe(rusted off). Also, my boost gauge moves when i start my car but never goes above 0. Could this be a bad turbo? And if i have no spedometer or odometer readings, how do i fix this? And where can i find silicne hoses? I have more questions but i have to think of them.
Thanks
Justin

Well im not a T2 owner but I'll try to help you out to the best of my ability. The popping may be due to the fact that your exhaust is not there/rusted apart and is just backfire possibly. Do you feel that the turbo is building boost when you drive it? It could be a bad turbo or an issue with your wastegate. Silicone hose, check out hose techniques or something but I if you need it quickly you can just pick up normal rubber line from any auto parts store for pretty cheap.

sounds like backfire for the popping.... http://www.hosetechniques.com/ has a hose kit for the car, got one myself ... when you say boost guage never goes above 0, you mean even when you're driving and going like 4000-5000 rpm the needle still doesn't move? (might want to check boost leak, turbo shaft play) speedometer AND odometer both don't work? might want to check the speed sensor (back of tranny under car), or fuse if the RPM doesn't work either (forgot which fuse, actually fuse-related at all...?)

the rpm works fine, and it picks up speed like a ****. it takes a few minutes to get it to accelerate above 3000, but then i cant shift like i do in the honda(about 3500-4000) cause it picks up too fast. until it warms up, it dogs at 3000 and kind of hops. also it overheats sometimes, but i think it might be because of the fan shroud and intake thingy not on(the previous owner didnt put the fan on right so i got to get it to school to work on it). oh yeah, the dummy lights dont work, but i get the alarms. one is like a constant buzz, like the guys in "dumb and dumber" making the most annoying sound in the world(sorry its the only way i can explain it) and a little beep, beep-beep when it gets hot.
thanks for the info though guys.
