Questions about the steering angle sensor on an S5

My car use to give me the 5 beep code randomly but mostly when it was raining. Then one day it just started beeping the 5 beep code none stop. I took the steering angle sensor apart and cleaned it, applied dielectric grease and put it back together with the 2 arrows lined up and the steering wheel on straight. The car still beeps at me but not continuously. There is alot of discussion about putting the sensor on correctly/lined up. I only see 2 ways to put it on so that the spring loaded sensor piece lines up. It can be arrows together or arrows 180 degrees apart. One drunk person on the forum said it should be arrows apart but like he said he was drunk and I forget what car he was talking about. It also looked like one of the spring-loaded sliders had its end broken off but there is still a second slider to make contact. My car is a 1991 convertible so it also has the clock spring for the airbag. My turn signal shut off also works fine.

The angle sensor on the convertibles with the airbag are different then the other cars. It also turns out that they cost 10 times ($550) as much also. I have not figured this thing out yet but I plan to do sometesting. It looks like it only has on and off connections on it and about 3 wires to tell it where it is. I do not know how it keeps track of its location. I am also going to try and put more spring pressure on the contacts. There is only one way to hook it up also.
