Questions about doing away with rear exhaust cans.
i have 1 cat for some weird reason, and i wanted to know, if i just cut the cans out, clamp on a section of pipe all the way out and just put a clean tip on it, if itll be too loud for the street? i dont have much money but i want it louder (without cutting the dang think outa the exhaust ports) sence i cant have a header because of clearence reasons.
if im having idle problem with an open exhaust manifold, but no idle problems with the exhaust hooked up, will this cause any idle problems.
Final question, will this be too loud for the street? and will cops pull me over?

The loudness all depends on what type of muffler you get.
Also if you have an S4, putting an exhaust syem like that on will most likely not give you enough back pressure to open the 5th/6th ports.
But it could be don't very easily, all you have to do is put the muffler were the stock main cat sits (beside the tranny one the pasengers side). And make sure you get a VERY good and strong muffler, because the rotary puts out strong exhuast pulses that useually breaks most muffler. That is probably one of the main reasons the mufflers are in the back.

im talking on an S5, but if i dont have much back preasure it wont idle anyway. im not talking about replacing the cat either, im talking about replacing the rear exhaust cans that your tips come out of, just bacicly cutting the can off, clamping a pipe out the back and puting a tip on it for loudness.

THAT WOULD BE SO F#CKING LOUD!!!!
I build a true dual exhaust, with 2 spintech 2" mufflers. And it would REALLY start to get annoying after a while. And that would DEFINATLEY be illegal, without a dought!Take that muffler off and you'll see why, REAL FAST!
The rotary isn't like a V8 or something like that were you can run no mufflers and it won't be all that loud. If you do that it will sound like all the bee's in the world converged and all comeing to kill all the ricers!
It would probably make your ears bleed to, but it would most likely seriously damage your hearing.
