Question for those with BOV's

Are you guys buying the Kit, with pipe Included, or are you buying the Universal Kit and fabbing It accordingly?

I noticed It's almost $100 more for the pipe alone.

Anyone have a pipe to the BOV that they don't need anymore?

the pipes are different for each BOV.

you'd have a "VERY" hard time getting one on without the kit unless you have a FMIC.

although pople use the turbo xs ones pretty easy. any other one isn't easy.

I was thinking of fabbing one with the existing Turbo Outlet Pipe. The only thing Is, I've got the S5 plastic one but I'll be able to swap that one for a metal one found on a s4.

So with that In mind, Is It all that difficult?

I have a bid for a Greddy Type S universal Valve and I'm preparing a head of time.

Or even, just fab up an aluminum pipe to mount the BOV? Tips? I won't need the nipple to the ACV. That'll be blocked off.

The TurboXS BOV can just (with some force) slip into inlet of the stock bypass valve.

Lucky bastard!

It took me a good 10 minutes of cramming that damn thing into the stock tube...

Only the turboxs type s (or whatever the **** it is) will go on the stock pipe. The type h is about twice the size of it
you'd have a "VERY" hard time getting one on without the kit unless you have a FMIC.
It took me 20 minutes with a hack saw, a drill, a file and an arc welder to make a new pipe for my turboxs typeh. Oh, that includes painting it.

Even for the adapter matter, I can't seem to see that particular pipe adapter sold on It's own.

I bought a Blitz BOV attached to a pipe that was meant for an S14, and I just cut the pipe to the right length. BUT, I don't have my BAC, so I was able to use just any 50mm pipe.

I actually made my own for use with my TIMC. I used a 1g DSM BOV . I made a pipe that looked identical to the factory plastic one and welded on the flange for the DSM BOV. Works great! Those are some loud *** BOVs too.

So I can use the flange for the DSM BOV. Great. I plan on following a simular setup due to the pipe Itself being unavailable on It's own, I don't need the peripheral for the ACV, It's overpriced when retailed and a Kit, and the neccessary need to always customizing things.

Which pipe do you guys vent off? All the setups i've seen mount the new BOV between the compressor outlet and the IC. Perhaps I haven't looked at the stock one in detail..

Thats exactly how I have mine mounted. It looks stock if you didnt know what you were lookin at. But thats how I wanted mine. Shiney bling under my hood scares people before we race. They tend to back out.

don't bother getting the kit... they are useless...

i have the apex-i twin chamer bov... the stupid inlet pipe they use doesn't accomedate cars with ABS.

so what i did was take my plastic stock one... take my dremel and cut off wheel and cut off the nipple to teh stock BOV. took the carbide bit and then ported the opening so it was the same size as the inlet to the BOV.

went to a metal shop and found a peice of 1/4 inch aluminum... tried to cut out a shape to match the flange of the BOV (i ended up making a circle)

drilled and opened a hole... took a **** load of elastic bands and secured the new ghetto flange to the stock plastic pipe. Then i applied a liberal amount of JB WELD.

I LOVE JB WELD. 2000 kms later... the thing holds up fine.

not hte prettiest design... but function before form.

Anyone have pics of their BOV setup?

I have kind of a ghetto setup with a hose connected to my Turbo XS RFL.

I just bought the flange. I actually had three different blow off valves already. I had the Apexi, which is bad if you had ABS, I had the BlitzSS and that **** leak vaccum like a ****, and now I have a greddy. Which is great to me. I had no problems with it yet. Putting in a BOV should not take you any longer than 30-40 minutes unless you don't have the right tools. I recommend the greddy type s to anyone. Even though I miss the sound of my Blitz.
