Question for the Rotary Guru's - Cooling Question

I took my car to Fast Freddy's here in Santa Ana Cali.
I asked them to check my themostat because my coolant was boiling over into the overflow tank. They then told me my water seals were blown and i need a new engine. It would overheat once its warmed up and when you start normal driving. The car would also misfire when then engine is started when its cold. And smoke a little. Plugs hadn't been changed in about 6000 miles. Once i got the car back home. I proceeded to change the thermostat and plugs myself and flushed the coolant system. The car will now not overheat and does not smoke at all when the car is started. I asked them to check the themostat 1st and then move on... however they proceeded to pressurize the system and test the car with the bad thermo... I then asked for compression numbers from the guy and they tell me they threw them out.... wtf.... On my receipt it just says bad motor and quoted 2800 for a rebuild..... What do you guys think as i'm real pissed i paid 70 bucks to be bulls***ed.

Well, what do you want to hear? "Sorry you got screwed?". Why'd you pay them $70 when they didn't do what you wanted them to do? I simply wouldn't have paid. Live and learn.

Lesson #1 learned - be sure to know about who you bring your car to work on it would be a good idea to find a rotary mechanic other than going to the local rip off shops

Title your next thread, 'Looking for Rotary Mechanic in Santa Ana, Cali".

Sorry that you got nailed, but it's awesome to hear you took their diagnosis with a grain of salt and tackled the problem yourself.

And if you ever do need a rebuild, hypntyz7's your guy! Accept no substitutes!

yeah i told you a while back man welcome to the club but sorry to hear about your fiasco...also it looks like you can still drive your car so dont push your car at all and you can get the most out of the coolant seal...the more you rev the more pressure its pushing on the seal... i too second the notion to get an engine from hypntyz7 he does great work and is easy to work with...
