Question with a picture since I dont know what it's called.

Does anyone know if the round bar here is structural? I would like to remove it for ease of creating a vmount. It's literally right where I want the damn radiator to be.


p.s. why dont enough people document their vmount builds

While I'm sure it is there for a reason, I cut it out and have not noticed a change in handling or chassis flex. There may be a reason to not cut it, but I haven't found it yet.

Everytime I walk out to my car I literally just hit a brick wall and cant visualize what I could attempt to do. I want to minimize welding as I dont have access to one...simple brackets and cutting are my friend. Im hesitant to remove the tube since I do plan on tracking the car a few times a year.

That thin-wall tube primarily provides a load path if you get t-boned in the front, effectively resisting the frame rails from collapsing inwards. I'd wager that anyone whose done a v-mount has removed it.

As AGreen hinted, it's influence on chassis rigidity is negligible. FWIW, I'd name it a front lateral strut.
