Exclamation Question On Buying A 90rx7- Gtu

Hey guys iam new to the whole rotary scene but I wanted to try something new i got bored of hondas. well to get straight to the point i found a 1990 Rx-7 GTU for $700 obo only thing is they say it needs a ALTERNATOR and a STARTER and other than that the car will run fine... do u guys think i should buy the car? good buy or just pay more and get a better one? ;\ im confused i dont knoe if the starter and alternator would b hard to find for the 7.. and if they will b xpensive..

You should be able to find used ones for less than $100 each.
Maybe much less, I think I paid $30 or $40 for an S5 NA alternator when mine died.

But without seeing the car run ahead of time, or being able to test drive it, it's hard to tell what you're getting yourself into.

If the car comes with a bad alternator, it may be rebuildable.

...I'd say go for it...

Not a bad deal even if it's got a few more problems than that, depending on how much free time and money you have to work on it...

Unless it's got something horribly wrong with it like a bent up, rusted out body, electrical problems, missing things it shouldn't be, or if it just looks and drives like crap.

you owned hondas that means you can take it to any mecahnic and get it fixed easily

forget about it!!!

do you know how expensive a RX-7 can get ???
obviously you have NO IDEA!!!
every part is gonna cost you 5 times as much as a honda
buy a car with a normal ENGINE!!!!!!
i bought mine for 2K i spent 1K on it and i still got **** goin on!!!
DUDE take my word NO!!!!!

Both a bad alt and a bad starter suggests that the battery was probably hooked up backwards, and that the ECU is probably also smoked.

Can you push start the car? If not I would probably avoid the car unless you are willing to do work on the car yourself.
