Does the stuff actually help cooling at all? I've been running a bit hot lately and it's time to flush the rad. fluid anyways, so I might throw some in.

Water wetter

It works!
I live in Las Vegas, and with 117 degree days I can really see the difference in my car and cycle (V-Max).
If freezing is not a concern use just a little coolant, and mostly water. Change it every year.

We use nothing but water and a bottle of water wetter in our race cars.

If you live in a climate where you don't need to worry about freezing, it would work fine, but I would take Vert in Vegas' advice and add at least a little antifreeze just to be on the safe side.

have you looked at Evans NPG? this was a big thread last summer in the Alltrac Owners group. we debated and debated... the verdict came out to, was it worth it? and which one? a lot of people said it was a waste, unless you had an aluminum IC and were running constantly at high-rpms. they even said it might affect performance, becuase the engine couldnt keep enough heat. (i didnt say it!! just quoting) but, the two choices were Evans NPG and Redline Wetter. i know for sure though, there's a guy who swears by Evans and debated that issue until people starting pulling out knives. hehehe (Evans is also cheaper $$ i think)

Evans is definitely NOT cheaper, but it is a quality product for racing purposes. In a daily driver, I would consider it overkill and a waste of money. Even in an n/a racer it's not necessary.

For you guys with turbos, lots of mods, and heavy right feet, it's probably money well spent.

I would say go get an upgraded radiator and an e-fan before you go putting **** in your cooling system. I mean the cheap way isn't usually the best way and what can people expect out an old stock system anyways.

just use it it works the recomended mixture is 90-10 water to coolant per redline there was a thread a couple weeks ago about this too, check redline.com they have all the info you need. i use it and it is effective i don't notice it on the stock gauge cause it sucks but i can tell a difference.

Water wetter is a quality product, not a cheap fix.
I upgraded my cooling system and used water wetter.

Jason,

I use it..it works great. You should use some coolant. Use the instructions on the back of the bottle.

Do not use Zexoll coolant!!! It will eat though your water seals. Use only Prestone.

Water Wetter rocks. And don't go all/mostly water in your rad. You may get corrosion (something someone else mentioned once.)

Check this out for a write-up I posted plus one testimonial about whether or not Water Wetter damages your cooling sys/engine...

I have used Redline water wetter for years in all my cars and motorcycles. It works.

Use it with 50:50 water/antifreeze for year round street driven engine.

Use distilled water with Prestone(yellow bottle) green antifreeze. I actually had a radiator rust from the outside in. The inside of the radiator(and in all my cars) is spotless.

Exactly, you should upgrade your radiator and other cooling parts before just putting products in your cooling system. I am talking about people trying to get their temps down because they are so high. I mean if your running hot then something is wrong that needs fixed or changed. This is just my opinion though.

Yea I just picked some up. Only 5 bucks and from what I hear it works great at keeping the temp. down so why not give it a shot?

Dude, that's like posting saying, 'I'm eating a green vegetable - will it hurt my teeth?' WHAT coolant ISN'T green???

I'm not Mr. Car Guy, but I've never heard of coolant (or Wetter) eating through or ******* up anything. It's an automotive fluid, not Dran-o.

EXTREMELY common GM coolant is not green. It is bright orange.
The coolant is expensive, but supposedly only needs changing every 60,000 miles. It is put in all newer GM cars from the factory.
It's called DEX-COOL.
The two types of coolant are not mixable.
You can drain out DEX-COOL and put in regular 50:50 ethylene glycol/water coolant (green), put you cannot drain a ethylene glycol coolant car and put in DEX-COOL. The system would have to be completely evacuated first.
As well, DEX-COOL does not cool all that better, and can only be topped up with DEX-cool, not water.
When you buy DEX-COOL, you are buying the coolant itself, and you don't mix it with water.

Now that you've told everyone to shutup, Amur, how does that foot taste?

A proper mixture of 50% green ethylene Glycol antifreeze and 50% water is fine for your seals and optimum for cooling vs. corrosion. Brand doesn't really matter, but I choose to run Prestone.
When I get a few more mods I'll switch to Evans.

Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow!

So I've never owned a GM before, or seen Dex-cool, or heard of it gumming up rotaries. Don't shoot me for it, 'kay?

And I picked that pic for the bleach -slash- juice (to go with the corrosion - Dran-o thing,) not for the Shut Up. I'll have to be more careful in choosing pics, ne?
