Question: AIT and water temp sensor.

Just got my drift **** running after 16 months of sitting! Swapped in an S5 keg.

Currently have an S4 car and wiring with S5 keg. ZERO N/A here.

Is the ait really needed? One of the metal prongs on all 3 of my ait sensors (i have spares) is broke and i dont really want to spend 50 dollars on a new one. Ive read that it controls timing retard but not sure. Ive seen various answers.

Also ive read that S4 and S5 water temp sensors below the oil filter are different signals. If true wont that mess up the open/closed loop for the ecu? How do i make my S4 sensor work in the S5 motor without drilling and tapping my keg?

P.S. HALTECH IN 2 MONTHS!

The temp sender below the oil filter is for the gauge, not the ECU.They just have different connections between s4 and s5 but function the same,as they are a temp Probe sort of thing,
On an s4 there are 3 senders. That one,and another in the bottom of the rad and another behind the alternator on the waterpump housing.
WP sender is for the ECU and the one on the rad is to read temp when starting.
..as far as the AIT,they are easily found if you put up a WTB on the Sec Gen FS Section!
