question for actuall drifters
do any of you guys have manual steering on your drift cars? im talking about actual manual rack, or correctly depowered power rack.
just wanting to know, because im looking at depowering my rack, and would like to know what you guys are doing.
and dont hate, i just spent 30 minutes searching and reading. so no "search" replies please.

i do not prefer power steering.... i cant get a good feel for where my wheels are.... especially when autoxing... im in the process of depowering it and once i get the engine rebuilt ill let you know how it feels compared to power V depowered slides
drifting with and without power steering. the power steering helps me counter steer quicker, and is a bit more responsive. only plus side to the manual is less weight and less parts. its all a matter of preference really. my Sa has no power steering, and it is smoother sliding than my FC, but counter steering isnt as responsive.
i like power steering a lot better than not having it, the fact that you need to know where your wheels are is not so much because of the steering feel but more of the front suspension as a whole. if you upgraded the entire front suspension with poly bushings, new tie-rods, coilovers/shocks/springs, sway bar etc. will have more of an impact on steering feel than depowering your power rack or running manual rack. i find that its harder to drift without power steering because only then will the overall size of the tire make the wheel heavy to turn and make the transitions harder.
this is especially true on short technical courses because at low speeds you will be struggling with the wheel. but on large sweeping courses its not much of an issue.
its just really a matter preference and how good you are at drifting yourself.
for me i find its much easier to drift with power steering that not having power because i had a drift car that didnt have power steering and i ended up spinnin out alot more than with power steering because on the transitions the wheel countered itself much faster.
try drifting with some 18's(18x9 in front at that) without power steering(not like anybody really does, but i drifted my friends 240 that had 18's and no P/S) and see how it feels.
