If he didn't touch the crank angle sensor, the timing should be fine.

First, how did you determine that you have spark? Assuming that you do indeed have spark the next two areas are compression and fuel/air. I agree that unless you have touched the CAS, timing is not your problem.

1. Can you hear the fuel pump running? Jumper the two pin connector whitish/yellow up by the air filter box. Turn the key to on, and pop the hatch and listen over on the left side for the fuel pump whirring.
2. Do you have compression. Pull the top plugs and spin the motor with your finger over the plug hole. Do you have three good pulses? Or better yet, do a real compression test.

Post your results.

1st hold a spark plug on the struttower then see if it sparks when u turn the car over
2nd check for fuel "fog" while the spark plug is out and its turning over
3rd if you have spark and the fog... check your timing

this may sound stupid but is there gas in the tank or did the gas go bad?

I may be thinking waaaaaaaaaay outside the box here, but does the battery have enough of a charge? Assuming you check the other things first, like fuel, air and timing, maybe it's a matter of electricity.

*shrugs* just a random thought
