question about piggybacks

Which piggyback would be best the Apexi S-AFC or the Greddy E-Manage? What kind of luck have you guys had out of each ones? I don't know which one to get. My friend had the S-AFC 2 and he hates it. I have never had to deal with the E-Manage so I don't know what to do.

e-manage is overkill. for the price, you can get an Rtek 2.1 . if you have to use a piggyback, just go with the SAFC (just get the original, SAFC 2 is more expensive for hardly any benefit).

well, get use to tuning if your going to use a piggy back, i think the e-manage is more than a piggy back. i think that's almost or is a stand alone. if you use a piggy back. use the SAFC v1 or v2. the neo i heard was something else... not worth it. anywho, as for the rteks. go look on the site: http://www.pocketlogger.com/index.php?pid=rtek7

if your looking for restrictive set ups or full tunable set ups, check out the variety of things the Rtek can do. like arghx said, get the 2.1 and settle all this. i was going to get it but i figured that getting a power FC is better. i dont know yet, but i'm still debating.

with the rtek do you have to re-wire the engine, and do they still make the power fc?

The emanage is 100% a piggyback. it either intercepts the inputs to the ECU, like an SAFC (change AFM or MAP sensor signal), or it intercepts the outputs of the ECU (changing injector pulsewidth or spark timing). the emanage is best used as a bandaid for OBD II cars that cannot have their factory ECU reprogramed but must retain a stock OBD II ECU for emissions tests

the power fc depends on your application. if you are doing any turbo with a 4 inch inlet a power fc/standalone is really your only bet. if you are using 1680 secondary's, you need a standalone for that as well to control the injector staging. I actually wrote a Power FC for FC3S purchasing guide: http://www.geocities.com/arghx/PowerFC.FC3S.Tuning.doc

The Emanage Ultimate is a piggy back, and requires the stock ECU to function, but having said that it does give you almost the same abilites as a standalone.

You can adjust Injector duty by +/- 100%, and timing by +/- 20 degrees, and more importantly, you can adjust primary and secondary injectors seperately and Leading and Trailing timing.

The old blue emanage used to alter the AFM signal to accomplish fueling changes but this also affected timing - the new Ultimate can still alter the AFM signal, but allowes you to map the injector's and timing seperately as well.

You can also eliminate the AFM as well.

If your mods aren't extreme then it's a good piggy back - and the software is easy enough to use, but for big modifications you should consider a standalone.
