Question about oil cooler lines..
I feel kind of stupid for even asking this, as it was late, and I may just be too tired to think clearly, but here it goes. I was pulling the engine from my '86 GXL a while ago, and I got everything ready, down to where I went to unbolt the oil cooler lines from the block. Well...the front one I got off fine, but the back one is different from any other one Ive seen. The back line comes from the block, then is a hard line, which appears to go through a hole in the front cover All the other engines Ive pulled had seperate, soft(braided) oil cooler lines the while way. Can someone help me out here, let me know how to get this off. Or just call me a retard if Im being stupid, but please help me out. Thanks....

Dude
just cut the braid...then take both pieces to your closest hydraulic hose rebuilder...will save a bunch compared to dealer (the only supplier) price...also sounds like mabye that one you're referring to might have been replaced and somehow "rigged"...be sure you get some new "banjo washers) or the old ones may leak...just take an old one to get the right size...I had my rebuilder to make the long hose a two piece rig with the joint between the front of the engine halfway to the wall just prior to cooler connect....goood luck ole' man...
