Question question about my startup

ok so im having a little issue with starting, it usually takes a couple tries, itll start but itll bog and die

itll goo rrrr-rrr-rrr- vroooomm... bababa ba.

and die, usually i have to give it about quarter throttle to get it to start and if i press the gas after it starts itll die like its getting flooded

usually after 2-4 times of me doing that itll fire up, but i have to give it enough gas to hold it at 3k rpm and do a normal warmup cycle manually. so it takes about 30 seconds to really get it started, cause if i dont warm it up at all itll bog if i rev it and if i let off the gas itll die, something for my warmup cycle is totally failing me right now lol.

any ideas? places to look?
i cant try anything right now though because im rebuilding my tranny but while i am doing all the work i want a general idea of what to check.

oh and i have a 90 gxl rx7 fc with a jdm s5 engine swap.

lemme know what you guys think

Have you checked your engine coolant temp behind the water pump? Do you have emissions still hooked up?

When the car is warmed up it'll idle and run correct, correct?

the emissions are not hooked up, theres like 5 plugs undone. and yea when its started it runs perfectly fine, also i have replaced the thermostat already and all. the o2 sensor on the downpipe is cut off.

Sounds like your ECU is commanding a too rich mixture at start, which is usually related to the water thermo sensor. If it is missing/not connected, it sometimes sees that as a very cold temp, runs the mixture very rich and you have too rich a mixture at start.

It could be that the thermowax, AWS valve and BAC have been removed/disabled. Idle can be very rough on cold starts if these functions are disabled. Are these things present?

mmm, beats me, i know theres 4 emissions control plugs undone and like 2 on the opposite side of the block but thats about it. its not a rough idle at all. its no idle or too much gas. where would i go to check that stuff?

ok so i know this thread was awhile ago, i figured out a technic to get it started everytime, but it really sucks.

so basically i dont have a bac
i dont have aws..
i was told this is why i have to manual warm up my car.
also the reason my startup sucks.

confirmation?

Yes, as I said before, they're there for cold start/emissions. I'd get at least a BAC from the classifieds section. The AWS isn't so useful, but the BAC and thermowax serve a purpose.

ok i actually looked into this..

i told jeff at jeffs auto (rotary shop local here) and i guess they have "vintages" and i have to get the right vintage. he said he has no idea what that might be but it has to be the right one. there like ecus kinda, they have the same codes but are different in some way.

any knowledge about this?

i have a n370 ecu. (usdm)
its got the jdm wiring harness
and its running a jdm motor. idk if i would use the n370 bac or the n374

I think I recently saw a thread that Hailers was heavily involved in that went through some of the different model BAC's that are out there... He'd probably be of some help.

If the engine was a turbo you'd use a BAC that is a N370/.....and instead of writing on this forum and waiting, you could have just looked in the free download of the parts fische for a series five car and found the part number.
