question about JDM airpump use.....

well i finally found a s5 TII airump for my TII swap in my s5 NA but the pulley is a different size then the US airpump so my question is does anybody know the part number to a belt that will fit or the total length of what the belt needs to be? thanks -mike

any help is appreciated.

You're the one holding the air pump. How are we supposed to know how big the pulley is? Put it on the engine, measure the required belt length and go buy one.

thanks for the input and i asked because its not a special unique size there are lots of people out there with jdm airpumps i was just wondering if anybody knew the part # from napa or something so i wouldn't have to play guess and check but it looks like im gonna try to take as close a measurement as possible and hope they can go by lengths in the computer not just part numbers. thanks again for the input. peace -mike

I don't know where you got that idea. I don't remember anyone saying they were using a JDM air pump. A complete JDM engine would not meet US emission checks anyway (visual or sniffer) so I don't know why anyone would bother using that air pump. If you need to pass emissions you should be swapping on the US-spec manifolds and air pump.

The JDM air pump is considerably smaller than the US spec one, the bigger pully is to compinsate to some degree, but Jason is right, in that the air flow of the JDM air pump will be less than the US versions and may lead to you not passing smog.

However getting smog done last weekend on Santa Rosa on my vert, they just checked to see if it was there, and not wether it was working.
