question about the goose neck attached to the waterpump.

now i know the s4 has the bleeder valve on it, but i have an s5 one that is crappy and plastic. does anyone know any kind of replacement for the s5 that might have the bleeder and is more durable then the crappy s5 one? im planning on putting my thermostat back in and i really dont want to go through the trouble of filling my coolant again. it always takes me 2 weeks to do it because i never have time to sit for a day or 2 to fill it the right way. anybody got ideas. or if someone wants to make a replacement for the s5 and put a bleeder on it i will be the first to buy one. thanks.

Park on a steep hill and then fill it. Air will travel to the highest point, which will be your radiator fill cap, if you park correctly.

To answer your question, I dont know of anyone making replacements. I think RETed was pondering on it for a while several months ago, but I think he realized that FC owners are too damned cheap to make it worthwhile and decided against it.

yeah, I figured this out the hard way, took me and my dad about an hour trying to find that stupid bleeder screw. LOL then I realized it doesn't have one, jumped in the car turned it around and began to fill.

Can someone clue me in what your talking about, when I changed my waterpump I just followed the service manual procedure? Since the S5 plastic radiator fill neck is the highest point in the system (higher than the thermostat goosneck housing), I just started the car while parked on ramps, left the radiator cap off, and bled the air out by letting it run and squeezing the hoses. I ran the heater on high to bleed air out of that system.

I did have the "add coolant light" come on though while driving around the block from an airbubble.

well since i dont have ramps, it was kinda hard to put it up on ramps buddy. also im asking about the fact that the plastic cracks so a metal replacement would be nice. and if it was made why not but a bleeder on it. so are you now clued in? if not, stay away from the thread. thanks.

I have a CAD drawing of an adapter to use the S4 neck on the S5 pump. After receiving some quotes from manufacturers it looked like the price would be in the $50. I came to the same conclusion as ReTed.

Like Kevin suggested I always jack the front of a car up so that the cap is at the highest point. Still usually takes a couple heat cycles to purge all the air from the system.

I'm still working out the details on this "project", and I was also thinking about slapping on a flange for a filler cap option - ala S4's.
This would add to costs of course.
I'm in the middle of building up our 20B project, so this has been sidelined.
I'm trying to shoot for end of *2006* to actually release this product - regardless of cost!

I've owned a number of series four and not one of them had/has a bleeder screw on the *goose neck*. I been robbed! Or ya'all don't know what your talking about when it comes to series four.

The air bleed is/was on the radiators right hand side.
