Question about FCD and aftermarket computers.

Is there a need for a Racing Beat (or otherwise) FCD in conjunction with a aftermarket Computer?

I will be installing the Greddy Ultimate E-Manage.

With a full EMS you will not need an FCD. With a piggyback, you will need one.

Well, I just read some more on the UEM, and it seems that it can control ignition too?

That is what it says it can do. That is why I am full of questions right now.
If so, does that change things here?

It is my understanding that the Greddy Emanage ( either one, blue OR Ultimate....) Actually intercepts the signal on its way out of the ECU. Not before like most piggybacks.
(dont quote me but im almost possitive i read that somewhere.)
So it seems ike it would be more likely that it could.... And i think that there is a way you can wire it so you dont need a FCD as well...

Well, if its INTERCEPTING and modifying an ignition signal from the ECU, then it WILL need an FCD, as far as I can tell.

The fuel cut is internal code in the stock ECU. It doesn't matter what interceptor you use or if it intercepts inputs or outputs, if you still have the stock ECU, you need a FCD.

they make some chips for the ecu like the Rtek, that actually eliminate the fuel cut code

Where are all them GReddy eManage bitches when you need them?
There used to be a handful of them that used to mouth off everytime you mention this thing, but where did they go now?

I only remember like one person who actually got it running?

What happened to the promises about eliminating the stock AFM???

They claim it can be eliminated. You run a "hot wire", they say.

I wont have my car running for a while, so it will be some time before I get to really get a hold of the unit and how it works.

So in fact it doesn't eliminate the stock AFM, it replaces it with another one.

you do NOT need a FCD with the ultimate. it has a built in function (the analog input/output) that will clamp the voltage output from the persure sensor, affectivly acting as a FCD.

yes it does ELIMINATE the AFM. BUT...you have to program in a table with the AFM output signals, before you can remove it. Effectivly, your fooling the ecu into thinking it is still recieving an input from the AFM. Another nice feature is you can use different AFM (say a hot wire AFM) from a different car (say a nissan).

you guys can download the installation and operation manuals for free. you can find answers to most of your questions right there.
