I think, if i just read rotary resurrections instructions right, that they arent. sounds like all injectors with the offset alignment plug are high impedence and all center alignment plugs are low. that would mean that i need to remove the injector resistor pack. is that right?

No, they are not.
Your "grey" top fuel injectors are actually early 1987 Turbo II ones that are purple when new.
The purples ones are low-impedence.
The pink ones are high impedence.
Unless you can splice resistors to compensate for the impedence difference, you're going to blow the stock ECU trying to make them fit.
The plus are keyed to prevent you from doing something stupid like this.

wouldn't he have to remove the resistor pack??

yes, i do need to remove the injector resistor pack that is located behind the passenger headlight and splice around it. but there are different injectors between jdm and us market. i have pink top injectors with offset locator plugs. i am unaware what year these came out if in japan as the motor and tranny and cut harness are all that i got. but it is a s4 motor. i have not found anywhere that lists pink top injectors as us market.

i think the general concensus is that the heat in the engine bay changes the color marked on the injectors: after time, it fades from purple to a pinkish. This may be why you are having trouble finding a listing for pink injectors.

Early Zenki FC3S turbo stock injectors are PURPLE brand new.
These purple tops turn brown / tan / gray with heat and age.
Late Zenki + all Kouki FC3S turbo stock injectors are RED brand new.
These red tops turn pink with heat and age.
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A "JDM" (versus US-Spec) fuel injector.
They are ALL the same thing.
If the fuel injectors are all stock from the factory - they are all the same thing!
If you don't believe me look at the ND part numbers on the side.
RotaryResurrection has a cross-list of ND part numbers on his website.

The only way to be 100% sure is to measure the resistance. Denso put the same part numbers on some high and low impedance injectors. They must have had thier up their butts at the time.

You don't have to remove the upper manifold/throttle body on a series four. Go to the solenoid resitoe package and ohm from there through the injector to the small plug on the ECU. See the fsm diagrams.
